Often I find myself plagued by this want for instant gratification. I want what others have & if I’m not careful I live in this perspective that the grass is always more green somewhere else. Excuses scream loudly, I let the mind games win often without even taking the risk. From conversation though I’ve found I’m not the only one. I would dare to say that daily many of us are living in this mentality of comparison, this want for what others have, mind games speak loudly & we struggle to find the mute button.

I need constant reminders to keep living with a mission & to keep working toward making an impact where God has placed me. Below are some things I try to keep at the forefront of my mind, maybe they will be helpful for you as well.

1.) CHARACTER IS THE FOUNDATION.

Character not charisma gives you lasting impact. Be a person who strives to be the same both privately & publicly. Honesty has always been & will always be the best policy. Perfection is unattainable so live with hope that today  you can continue to learn, you can continue to grow in generosity, joy, grace, & love. Say no to being fake.

2.) PUT OTHERS FIRST.

Don’t seek influence simply to feel good about a title or a leadership position. Instead seek to positively impact those who come into contact with you. Putting others before yourself isn’t natural, its difficult, but scripture says this is the best way to live. Philippians 2:3 says:Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.

3.) TIME IS VALUABLE.

Living on mission requires a time commitment. You want real impact? Be willing to wake up earlier & stay up later. Seize moments, press in, regardless of the hour.

4.) HARD WORK IS GOOD WORK.

Eliminate compromise, no more excuses. Do the things you know your future self will thank you for. Feel free to venture into the deep waters, instead of taking the easy path, forge new ones. It may not be easier but it will be far more rewarding.

5.) PASSION & PERSISTENCE CONQUER ALL.

Fuel your passion however you can. What makes you feel most alive? Set aside time to do those things. When your passion tank is full life is great, but it is unlikely that everyday you will find your passion tank on full. So when you find yourself on “E” in the passion department that is when persistence comes in. Don’t give up, don’t give in. Passion & persistence in partnership really can conquer about anything.

These 5 things are easy to write, but hard to really live out. Embrace the process & remember God saw it fit to give you the life your currently living. He knows your current situation & He will bring the good work to completion in your life. Keep holding hope high.
